Connie Does The Twist!

In 1963 or 1964, there was a dance at the high school, and Connie Kitchen and some boy--can't remember who he was-- decided to do The Twist, likely because that was the song playing. We were all surprised, and loved it, knowing it was very risky for Connie to do this: some older folks disapproved of The Twist because they thought it was "sexually suggestive", and the teacher chaperones were sure not to like it.  (Yeah, I know, super hard to believe, now.) Despite what they knew would happen, Connie and boy started "twisting", and the rest of us gathered round, watching and waiting.  About 1 minute in, Mrs. Joyner (I think) walked onto the dance floor and told them to stop it, they weren't allowed to do "that dance". Connie and her partner did as they were told, of course, but all of us were just shaking our heads at the sillyness of stopping them--while, also, cheering on Connie for her rebellious spirit.

I don't think I was there that night but I sure remember a lot of dances and dance floor with the two of you. Really miss all that dancing. Can not wait for all the dance floors to open back up.

Prom!

Randy-I have photos somewhere of all of us when we double-dated to the prom. Darryl Hammond was my date, and Nell Williams was yours. We were all just good friends, no romance. I remember the prom itself wasn't very interesting....:-)
