Obituary

David Crouse Clemmons, 80, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022 after a long battle with congestive heart failure.

He was born on August 13, 1941 in High Point, NC to the late Everett Lee and Vaden Crouse Clemmons.  

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Kidd (Wayne); granddaughter, Kathleen Kidd; brother, James T. Clemmons (Helen); sister-in-law, Jean S. Clemmons; three nieces; three nephews; and other extended family.  His marriage to Anne Murphy ended in divorce.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two older brothers, Carl and Harold Clemmons.

David grew up in Myrtle Beach and graduated from Myrtle Beach High School.  He spent his teen years working at his father’s miniature golf course near the old Pavilion.  

He received an associates’ degree in Business Administration from Kings College before beginning his career in the insurance industry and retired from United Insurance Company.  After his retirement, David enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.  He enjoyed playing games and was a Skip-bo champ.

David was a good father, grandfather, brother, friend and neighbor.  He will be missed by his family and friends. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 901 N. Kings Hwy., Myrtle Beach, SC 29577 or to St. Jude’s Children Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at First United Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach.  The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
