Garr LeRoy Pridgen, 71, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017.
Roy was born on February 16, 1946, in Conway, S.C. a son of the late Carl Columbus and Annelle Garr Pridgen. He was predeceased by two brothers, Carl and Bill Pridgen and sister-in-law, Evelyn Pridgen.
Roy graduated from Myrtle Beach High School in 1964, and Wofford College with a BA in business. He owned Strand Corporation Travel Agency and was also president of Red Bull Tour & Travel. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach and Pine Lakes.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Shaklo Pridgen, son, Alex Pridgen and wife Carrie of Charleston, SC, daughter, Elizabeth P. Underwood and husband Ryan of Chicago, IL, and grandchildren, Carson, Cameron and Madison Pridgen of Charleston, SC. Also surviving is his loving aunt, Olivette Garr Smith of Pawley’s Island, sister-in-law, Dee Pridgen of Charleston, mother-in-law, Barbara Shaklo and brother-in-law, Jon Shaklo both of Spartanburg, SC, and cousins, Maureen Hamilton, Sally Brodhead, Andy Garr and nephews and nieces who were very special to him.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 9, 2017, at First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach, 1300 N. Kings Highway, with Dr. John Brearley officiating. Burial will follow at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery.
