Ronald Joseph (R.J.) Montgomery, 68, "Coach" died Friday, March 29, 2013 at Waccamaw Hospital in Murrells Inlet, SC.
R.J. was born in Myrtle Beach, SC to the late J. Frank and Hennie Oliver Montgomery. He was a graduate of Myrtle Beach High School and Clemson University.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry Morris Montgomery of Manning, SC; his brother Frank Oliver (Sonny) Montgomery and his wife, Scarlet of Myrtle Beach; his sister, Peggy Montgomery Skoler and her husband, Mort of Manning, SC; his aunt, Virginia Owens of Moncks Corner; several nieces and cousins. R.J. was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Montgomery Arndt and her husband Otto.

I was a friend and played baseball against and with him. He was quite a pitcher. I always thought highly of him. We both went to Clemson at the same time. I have several relatives in the Manning area.
