Rachel Whittle Todd

Rachel Whittle Todd, 90, of Florence, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at her residence, The Carolinian. Mrs. Todd was born in Grey Court, SC, a daughter of the late Arthur Cromwell Whittle, Sr. and Ethel Smith Whittle. She grew up in McLeansville, NC.
Mrs. Todd was the former owner/operator of Todd's Hobby Shop in Myrtle Beach.  She was a member of Order of The Eastern Star #180 in Myrtle Beach.  She also served as the State Grand Deputy and was affiliated with the Rainbow Girls.
Mrs. Todd was a member of First United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach.  She loved traveling, going to the mountains, and ruby mining in North Carolina. Mrs. Todd is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest Benjamin Todd, Sr.; 2 brothers, LeLand Whittle and Arthur Whittle, Jr.; and by a sister, Evelyn Gifford. Mrs. Todd is survived by her son, Ret. Col. Ernest Benjamin (Kim) Todd, Jr. of Lubbock, TX; her daughter, Claudia Todd Parfitt of Florence; 5 grandchildren, Ernest Benjamin Todd, III of Chattanooga, TN, Amanda (Jerry) Garcia and Mary Todd, both of California, Robert Todd Parfitt of Florence, and Elizabeth Karen Parfitt of Atlanta, GA; 2 great-grandchildren; and by her extended family, Helen Poston and Casondra Perkins.  Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012 in the chapel of Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2012 at Southern Palms Memorial Gardens in Myrtle Beach.
The family will receive friends 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home; and other times at her daughter's residence.
