Info From Mike's Sister, Patti

Mike became sick in 1971 with his first brain tumor. We were given less than one year life expectancy with surgery or a few short months without surgery. Post surgery and radiation treatments Mike lost much of his 'Math'. He went to Horry Georgetown Technical College and regained all of his lost skills.. He continued with his dream of being a Minister by taking classes at Coastal Carolina College under the direction of Dr. Carl Compton. He was later Ordained as a Minister at the First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach. Mike was also a member of the South Carolina National Guard (Tank Infantry). Many surgeries and treatments were performed for the following 22 yrs at which time his seventh brain tumor took his life in 1993. Mike loved God, Family and our Country. He was referred to by the Surgical Staff at MUSC in Charleston, SC as being their miracle patient. His case was entered into study in the New England Journal of Medicine as he had a rare type cancer that did in fact respond to treatment for many years.
