John "Johnnie" Dixon Watts, Jr., age 77, of Anderson, went to be with the Lord on February 13, 2016, upon his death at AnMed Health Medical Center. John was born in Conway, South Carolina on December 21, 1938. He was preceded in death by his father, the late John Dixon Watts, Sr., mother, the late Wilma Harrelson Watts Green, stepfather, the late Richard G. Green, all of whom lived in Myrtle Beach, SC, and his sister the late Sarah Watts Waters. John was a personnel manager for several companies from 1964 until 1991 when he purchased and managed two businesses in Atlanta. He and his wife Patty retired to Lake Hartwell in 2006, where they were greeted warmly by many fine members of the Anderson community, some of whom attend Concord Baptist Church. He is a 1962 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a B.A. in Business Administration. He served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1958 aboard the USS Boston, the first guided missile cruiser in the U.S. fleet. While in the Navy he served as a pallbearer for the Unknown Soldier and as a pallbearer for Haakon VII, the King of Norway. Mr. Watts was a member of Concord Baptist Church.

John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading. John was totally devoted to his family and was known for his ability to love very deeply and put the needs of others ahead of his own.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of fifty-one years, Patricia "Patty" Loveless Watts; his children, John Dixon Watts, III and his wife Traci, of Greenville and Jennifer Watts Friday and her husband David, of Birmingham, Alabama; and five grandchildren Caroline Elizabeth Friday, Katherine Anne Friday, Rebecca Louise Friday, John "Dixon" Watts IV, and Ellery Lauren Watts.

The funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of John D. Watts, Jr. will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church, Anderson with Rev. Dr. Don Cox officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, February 19, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
