David Frank Owens, Jr. died Saturday, June 24th at Myrtle Beach Estates.
He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Dianne Kearns Owens. He was born in Marion, SC, the son of the late Helen McMillan and David Frank Owens, Sr. Frank attended Myrtle Beach High School, joined the Marine Corp at age 17 and attended the University of South Carolina after he was discharged. Frank was a long time member of First United Methodist Church, the men's bible class and sang in the choir. For the past twelve years he was an associate member of St. Paul's Waccamaw United Methodist Church in Pawleys Island. He was a lifetime member and past Exalted Ruler of the Myrtle Beach Elks Club along with being a Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Marine Corps League. Frank was the owner and manager of City Gulf Service Station and later The Tides Motel. He then moved to Murrells Inlet where he operated Capt. Dave's Dockside Restaurant.
Frank was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Owens (Barney Mae), sisters, Helen Christopher (Chris) and Bobby Canaday (Charlie). He is survived by his children, David Frank Owens III (Deborah) of Murrells Inlet and his daughter, Beth Thomas (Todd) of Litchfield Beach and his grandchildren, McMillan and Heyward Owens, Alson, Frankie and Mamie Thomas along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Goldfinch Funeral Home in Murrells Inlet on Thursday, June 29th at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Ocean Woods Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be sent to MSA Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.
The Owens's family would like to thank the staff at Myrtle Beach Estates and MSA Hospice for their overwhelming love, support and compassion.

Hello Everyone

Please help me and the friends and family of David Frank Owens, Jr. as they mourn the passing of their loved one. Please keep them in your hearts and in your prayers.  Frank and Dianne had a lot of friends in the Myrtle Beach area and they will be missed.
