Obituary of Robert "Van" Vance Segars III
 

 

Robert Vance “Van” Segars III, age 78, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Van was born April 24, 1943. He was formerly of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Van graduated from Myrtle Beach High School in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. He graduated from Newberry College, and earned his master’s degree from the University of Arkansas. He served as an officer in the United States Air Force for 20 years and also served in the Vietnam War. Van loved the Lord, and shared his love for the Lord through ministry. He served as a children's pastor at six different churches. He was the founding pastor of Marketplace Church and a senior adult pastor in Springfield, Missouri. He worked as a Human Resource Director for People's Federal in Conway, South Carolina. He was an active member of Taylor Road Baptist Church. Van was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Van cherished his family and loved them very much. He was a proud Veteran and loved his country. 

Van is survived by his loving wife, Jean Segars; son, Shane Segars and wife Jenelle of Millbrook, Alabama; daughter-in-law, Alisa Segars of Pensacola, Florida; grandsons, Taylor Segars and wife CeCe of Springfield, Missouri; Riley Segars of Charlottesville, Virginia; Ben Segars of Troy, Alabama; Cade Segars of Millbrook, Alabama; granddaughters, Amanda Fouts and husband Jonathan of Pensacola, Florida; Kaitlyn Segars of Pensacola, Florida; great granddaughter, Kinsley Segars of Springfield, Missouri; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his son, Captain Vincent Wesley Segars, and mother Norma Vincent. 

Friends are cordially invited to gather at a celebration of life service on Thursday, September 2nd at 10 o'clock in the morning at Taylor Road Baptist Church 1685 Taylor Road, Montgomery, Alabama. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Van’s name to the Building Fund at Taylor Road Baptist Church.
