
Obituary
Kathryn “Kathy” Todd Meador, 69, wife of Dennis E. Meador and sister of Barbara J. Todd, passed away suddenly, early Saturday morning, May 14, 2022.
Kathy was born on August 13, 1952, in the Conway Hospital to the late Ruth Cooper Todd and Ernest S. Todd. She was a graduate of Myrtle Beach High School. Kathy attended the Baptist College in Charleston, SC pursuing a degree in Music until she decided to be a nurse and graduated from Coastal Carolina with a degree in nursing. She had to take her last course at the S.C. State Hospital in Columbia and after graduating started work at the South Carolina Baptist Hospital. There, in a room one day she met her future husband. One week later they went on a date and six weeks later, they eloped. That was October 23, 1975. She was a floor nurse and intensive care nurse, there and at the Lexington County Hospital. Upon moving back home to Myrtle Beach she went to work at Grand Strand where she worked in the ER, the intensive care, as a hospital supervisor and in case management. Kathy went to work for Surgical Associates of Myrtle Beach at the request of Thomas Polen, MD and worked there for many years. She was a Christian, loved and was loved by her family, her fellow workers, and patients. Kathy had a very special place in her heart for her nephew, Timothy and loved him like a son. She was always there for anyone who needed her help. Kathy loved taking care of animals. She always supported the Wounded Warriors and Disabled Veterans on a local and national level.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Dennis Earl Meador; sister, Barbara J. Todd; nephew, Timothy Tompkins; uncle, James Todd, and numerous cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at McMillan-Small Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM – 1:15 PM, Wednesday, at the funeral home prior to the services.
Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior’s or Grand Strand Humane Society.
